About us
THE OMÀB
The OMÁB is a collaborative initiative through which we can work together to improve the welfare of laboratory animals, learn from one another, and grow professionally. It provides a platform to define a common direction that advances laboratory animal science in Hungary and supports its continued development.
Founded in 2022, the platform was established to provide a common home for collaboration among Institutional Animal Welfare Bodies (AWBs) operating in Hungary. Our goal was to create an organization through which we could share our experiences, best practices, and challenges with one another.
We have built a unified platform that provides collective representation for institutions, supports the development of harmonized guidelines at a national level, and serves as a driving force for professional advancement in the field of laboratory animal science and welfare.
Our members are representatives of Institutional Animal Welfare Bodies from various organizations across Hungary. They are actively involved in and have extensive insight into the authorization processes of animal research projects. At the same time, many of them are researchers themselves, making them active contributors both to the scientific community and to the implementation of the regulatory framework governing animal research.
